Skanska & DynaRoad Successful at UFP 01 Vestfoldbanen

Skanska Norway has together with DynaRoad Ltd delivered the lowest bid/tender for the Norwegian project UFP 01 Vestfoldbanen between Larvik and Porsgrunn in southern Norway. We asked Project Manager Ole Gudbrand Johnsen to tell us about the reasons why they have chosen to work with DynaRoad.

Skanska has over the last years co-operated with DynaRoad and Marcus Bäck on several large infrastructure projects in Norway, amongst others on the Fellesprosjektet and the E18 Sky Langangen highway project.
Why Skanska Chose DynaRoad

Mr. Johnsen said, "DynaRoad has demonstrated to be an excellent tool to optimize huge and complex mass haul operations to be carried out in different phases. It gives the contractor a good overview of how to optimize the construction and utilize masses along the sections. This is vital in the estimating phase to plan for the right machines and equipment as for the right cost."

"Line-of-Balance is an excellent planning technique to understand the project and to support decision making considering work flow directions for continued construction and for where to start. The visualization of the plan via different views gives us a very good insight into the complexity of the project. This is very convenient for the start-up phase of projects. In addition, it is a good tool to plan for the milestones in the project and safeguard that those are reached."

Mr. Johnsen added, "UFP 01 Vestfoldbanen is an excellent example of a project where we have benefited from utilizing DynaRoad. We have received feedback from the Client – The Norwegian National Rail Administration – that Skanska’s offer with regards to planning and utilization of project masses was second to none. I believe that the analysis we executed with DynaRoad prior to bid submission was one important reason for Skanska to win the project."
