Brief description: The direct line from Kerava to Lahti has been the most important railway project in Finland for over two decades. It has increased the rail capacity to Eastern Finland and Russia and reduced the traveling time from Helsinki to Lahti from 82 minutes to 48 minutes. Construction included 63 km of new track, over five million cubic meters of cutting masses, four million cubic meters of filling masses, and 76 site bridges.
